Steel Cable Swivel Joint with Ball Bearings – Heavy-Duty Strain Relief for Cable Pulling Applications

The steel swivel joint with ball bearings is a precision-engineered strain relief device, commonly known as a cable swivel, designed to effectively eliminate torsional stress during cable pulling operations. It is particularly suitable for pulling steel ropes or traction cables with cable winches, especially in medium- and high-voltage overhead line installations.

This swivel is primarily used to connect separate sections of traction cable and is designed for consistent performance under high tensile loads. Its compact, rounded form makes it suitable for passing through capstans, reducing mechanical stress and wear during feeding operations.

Thanks to its thoughtful shape, the swivel minimizes strain on cable loops as they move through capstans – the loops glide over special pivot pins, maintaining cable integrity and alignment throughout the pulling process.

The internal ball bearing system, combined with a thrust bearing, enables smooth, low-friction rotation under tension, preventing excessive twisting of the cable. This ensures stable, efficient operation while extending the life of the cable and protecting the pulling equipment.

Constructed from high-strength, galvanized steel, the swivel offers outstanding resistance to corrosion and mechanical fatigue. It is also easy to open, simplifying both installation and maintenance. Cable fastening screws are tightened with a standard Allen key, ensuring secure and precise connection of the cable ends.
